Crab house - Edison: Reviews & Ratings
This restaurant is a new addition to the plaza, and we were curious to try it out. The owners also run Wu's Fish House next door, and they share the same kitchen. We ordered crab roe soup dumpling buns and crab roe tofu over rice. While waiting, we were given appetizers: peanuts, pickled radishes, and marinated cloud ears, with the latter standing out the most. After a lengthy wait, I asked about our order, and the waitress apologized, explaining they had limited cooks. We finally received the crab roe tofu over rice, which my husband and I shared. The flavor was delicious, but the mushy rice was disappointing. It was also puzzling that our appetizers were served after our main entree. We waited a while, sipping on $3 tea, before the waitress brought out the soup dumplings. The dumplings were very good, with on-point flavor. I recommend not using the fish sauce, as it disrupts the delicate taste. The skin was thicker than expected, but the dumplings were still sublime. Although the restaurant offers more than just crab roe dishes, we focused on these for our first visit. We were quite happy with our selections. Here are our ratings: - Crab roe soup buns: 4/5 stars - Crab roe tofu over rice: 4/5 stars - Service: 3.5/5 stars - Atmosphere: 3.5/5 stars Overall, we give this place 4/5 stars and plan to revisit to try other dishes.
The crab roe over rice was delish but also filling. We only ordered one order and 4 of us shared. There was lots of crab roe inside. The flavor was very good. It was a bit pricey for a small bowl but we did get an extra rice for free. I really like the pork wonton in fish soup. Very tasty. I don’t think I’ll go back but I’m still going to recommend to friends to try.
The crab meat is tasty, and the noodle is soft. Everything is good.
Quality of the food is great. The items are on the pricey side but overall worth it. There are over 500 positive reviews on Google maps so definetly give this restaurant a try.
I give it a five star because of the excellent service, cleanliness and price. It’s airy and quite open. The order came quickly and portions are reasonably large. II would come back to try other wonderful dishes such as the Crab vermicelli casserole. I’m sure it’s just as delicious.
I think I found my favorite Asian seafood spot in the area. I am absolutely in love with their crab roe specialty ! You have the choice of with white rice or noodles. I chose rice with the crab roe and later one decided to get an order to go with the noodles. The crab roe is to die for ! So much flavorful and deliciousness. Another order is the steamed Halibut which was also wonderful to the taste buds. The service from the kind lady was wonderful and fast paced. We didn’t have to wait long for the orders to come. The restaurant is located on the second floor of the plaza and the first door. The parking is hard around that area but I went on thanksgiving day so it wasn’t so busy. My favorite part is the restaurant is dog friendly !!!! I cannot wait to try other items on the menu and bring my pup. This place is a must try with so much variety off their menu.
After seeing this on instagram and TikTok I’ve decided to give it a try. The crab roe over rice is definitely a must try. It was quite expensive $32.99 for a bowl of crab sauce and bowl of rice but surprisingly it was also pretty filling. We ordered a few items to share and everything was good except for the crab cake which was overly sour and a bit bitter. I will definitely go back to try other dishes

Crab House - Edison stands as a distinguished Chinese restaurant at 1711 Lincoln Hwy, Edison, NJ, celebrated for its masterful integration of traditional flavors and fresh seafood, particularly crab roe delicacies. Known for its culinary mastery over crab roe dishes, the restaurant offers a diverse menu that captures the essence of authentic Chinese coastal cuisine, with highlights such as Peking Duck Pork Soup Dumplings, Crab Roe Dumplings, and the richly flavored Crab Roe over Rice.
What sets Crab House apart is its meticulous attention to the quality and balance of flavors, evident in signature dishes like Crab Roe & Pork Dumplings and the Shanghai Style Fried Golden Bream. The delicate crab roe infused sauces, paired with pork or seafood, create a symphony of textures and tastes that are both decadent and comforting. The Appetizer Sampler, featuring items like pickled daikon and marinated woodear mushrooms, beautifully preprocesses the palate, offering a nuanced interplay of acidity and umami.
Personally, the Crab Roe Soup Dumplings were a standout for me—their rich, savory broth trapped inside the dumpling’s slightly thicker skin creates a harmonious burst of flavor. I found the recommendation to avoid fish sauce enhances the subtlety of the crab’s sweetness rather than overpowering it. The Crab Roe Tofu over Rice delivers an indulgent mouthfeel, although the texture of the rice can vary; it is still a dish worthy of exploration. Complementing these are unique offerings such as Dan Dan Noodles and the Pork Rinds Crab Roe Soup, which showcase the restaurant’s commitment to variety and depth in their culinary repertoire.
Service at Crab House is considerate, albeit sometimes slowed by a limited kitchen staff, but the welcoming atmosphere and clean, airy dining space contribute positively to the overall experience. The beverage selection, including the refreshing Lemon Passion Fruit Soda, pairs well with the rich meals to balance the palate.
In my experience, Crab House - Edison is not just a restaurant but a voyage into the layered flavors of Chinese seafood cuisine, particularly the nuanced use of crab roe, which elevates even the simplest dishes. While prices lean towards the premium side, the quality and distinctiveness make it a worthwhile destination for those eager to explore subtle, seafood-rich Chinese fare. With consistently positive community reviews and a menu that invites multiple revisits, Crab House holds a promising place in Edison’s culinary landscape and is a highly recommended venue for aficionados of crab-forward Chinese cuisine.
